Welcome Message

Welcome to the 2025 INNOPOLIS Global Forum!

This year, the Korea Innovation Foundation proudly commemorates its 20th anniversary. Since the establishment of the first INNOPOLIS in Daedeok in 2005, the INNOPOLIS initiative has expanded into a nationwide innovation network—comprising five INNOPOLISes and 14 INNOTOWNs across the country, totaling 19 zones to date.

To mark this significant milestone, we are honored to host the 2025 INNOPOLIS Global Forum under the theme Evolution and Vision of STI Policy.

This Forum brings together esteemed speakers from Korea and around the world—including senior policymakers, distinguished researchers, and pioneering entrepreneurs—to exchange visionary insights on science and technology policy, as well as global strategies for technology commercialization.

As the national agency leading Korea’s innovation cluster policy, we remain committed to connecting local capabilities with global expertise—believing this to be the foundation for building a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient innovation ecosystem.

It is our sincere hope that this Forum will serve as a meaningful platform for dialogue, spark new collaborations, and open promising pathways for international cooperation.

Thank you for your interest and engagement.

We look forward to welcoming you to Daejeon on September 4, 2025.

Hee Kwon Jung

INNOPOLIS
Innopolis is a Symbol of Korea's Leap and Transformation.

Korea Innovation Foundation is a professional technology commercialization institution that creates jobs through the National Science and Technology R&D innovation from innovative agents as INNOPOLIS Industry –University-Institute-Collaboration.

The Innopolis, which began in 1973 as the Daedeok Research Complex, is now recognized as the heart of South Korea's science and technology. It comprises five major Innopolis zones in Daedeok, Gwangju, Daegu, Busan, and Jeonbuk, along with 14 smaller regional specialized zones. From the Backgom missile, which laid the foundation for self-reliant national defense, to the successful launch of Nuri, marking Korea's emergence as a space power, the Innopolis has proudly been a part of Korea's history and a driving force behind its economic growth.

Since its establishment in 2005 under the “Special Act on the Promotion of Innopolis Zones” the Innopolis Foundation has been dedicated to ensuring that the excellent technologies developed in the zones contribute to society, beyond remaining mere innovations. We have focused on the commercialization of public technologies, developing models such as research institute spin-offs and advanced technology companies, and supporting regulatory sandbox programs and regional innovation initiatives to enhance technological capabilities and foster business growth. These efforts have helped position the Innopolis as a hub for innovative growth.

Now, the Innopolis Foundation is preparing for a new leap forward in this era of technological transformation, represented by AI, bio, and quantum technologies. We are committed to promoting deep-tech-based commercialization and startup support, fostering a super-regional cooperation ecosystem connecting various Innopolis zones, strengthening global cooperation, and supporting the expansion of local companies into international markets. Through these activities, we aim to transform the Innopolis into a global innovation cluster.

We kindly ask for the continued interest and support of the public as the Innopolis Foundation embarks on this new journey, helping to shape a brighter future for South Korea.
